Meet our Fitness Consultant, Taylor!
I grew up about 30 minutes away in Winona, Minnesota with my younger sister Katie. In high school, I played volleyball and ran track. During my track seasons is when I started working out more seriously and really started to see results. Throughout both high school and college, I worked retail jobs where I gained a lot of customer service skills. I actually met some of my best friends while working one of these retails jobs.
After high school, I attended Winona State University, where I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science. During my senior year at WSU, I completed an internship at the YMCA in Winona and shortly after, I started working at the YMCA as a personal trainer, water aerobics instructor and coached Happy Hurdlers. I currently still live in Winona and I have a dog, Baxter. In August of 2022, I started at Northstar Fitness and I have loved working here ever since! I love helping clients achieve their goals.
My fitness journey has included both ups and downs. During one of my track seasons, I sprained my ankle and I was out for an extended period of time. During this time, I worked a lot with the athletic trainer, trying to get my ankle back to normal. I learned the importance of having a postive mindset even with a minor setback. When I was cleared to run again, I spent many mornings before school in the weight room with one of my friends and that lead us in to working out in the off season and during the summer months as well. When I got to college, I would work out occasionally but never had a structured plan and did not see many results. Once I started taking more exercise and health-related classes, I learned the importance of having a structured workout plan related to my goals and started to see results.
Currently in my fitness journey, I work out reguarly with one of my friends. I have a structured program, tailored to my goals that I do after work at Northstar Fitness and that includes exercises and machines that we use a lot her at Northstar.
When I am not in the studio, I enjoy walking the lakes in Winona and hiking Sugarloaf. During football and basketball seasons, I enjoy going to Badgers and Packers games. I love spending time with my family and friends. I spend a lot of time reading as well.
Fun fact about me: About a year ago, I started taking a boxing class once a week in Winona! At first, I was hesitant to start because I was unsure if I could do it. After attending a few classes, I realized how good of a workout it was and I have enjoyed it ever since!
